Shaping Neste’s digital story
Our mission was to shape messaging, design and storytelling on Neste’s global and local websites. While aiming for a data driven and stakeholder focused approach, we set a tone for future sites; showing the way for information architecture, use and development of components, localization and flow.
Starting point
Neste is a global forerunner in producing sustainable fuels and renewable solutions. Our mission was to shape messaging and storytelling to match this position across all Neste websites. By utilizing data, embracing stakeholder expertise and through collaboration with partners in various fields, we set out to create a unique digital Neste experience.
Approach
To create a reliable foundation for continuous content production and development, we first created a content strategy and content playbook. These documents provided direction for information architecture, tone of voice and visual outlook of all new Neste websites. Our approach incorporated user centricity gathered through interviews and data while also staying true to business needs.
Impact
As a result of the wide-ranging work and collaboration, the project generated tools and directions for continuous and lasting use that are reliable both today and tomorrow. In close collaboration with partners and by leveraging the learnings collected during the course of the extensive project, the neste.com pages were released.
The neste.com page has set the general tone for all local websites and now provides a framework on which to continue the development globally. The work now continues with gradual roll out of Neste’s local websites, all with unique business needs, functionalities and user demographics. The collaboration continues to further develop and optimize the experience across Neste’s digital ecosystem.
The first reviews of data from the website reveal that the new websites have been received very well. Key performance indicators all point to a more engaging, informative and clear new experience.

A strategy for content
To provide editors and Neste teams with a clear framework for content, a new direction was established — encompassing tone of voice, content principles, and a bold imagery and motion treatment. These elements were combined into a comprehensive Content Playbook designed to guide and enhance the brand experience across digital platforms.
