Vuoden Huiput (Years Best) is Finland’s most respected creative competition.
The annual event aims to raise the quality of design, strengthen creativity and originality and to promote the industry as a whole. The competition and gala is arranged by Grafia, the Finnish association of Graphic Designers.
The Vuoden Huiput 2016 identity was created to challenge
the common perception of a creative industry.
Through characterising the competition’s main element, a graphical pyramid, we created a playful mascot which was used in multiple applications from the invitation pin, awards annual and a downloadable messaging sticker app.
Overall the visuality expressed different visual styles and techniques to create a more acidic, electric identity.
In addition to the charismatic pyramid character, we combined him/her with cliche phrases or quotes that are painfully familiar to those working within the industry.
