Fundraising is often considered broken. More people than ever are in need, but fundraisers, especially those canvasing on the street, are often ignored. Our challenge was to help our client, Plan Finland, generate donations to support their programs for girls in developing countries.

We created Girls Can to make giving social and fun again because it’s done friend-to-friend, instead of stranger-to-stranger. Virtual cans of coins are passed from person to person on the Girls Can website via Facebook.

The Girls Can website also lets participants track who, where, and how much has been donated to their can. It tracks the total donations generated, and statistics on each specific can compared to all other cans.

We put the fun back in fundraising. The campaign received great PR and several celebrities joined in to start their own cans. The cans have traveled a total of 25 times around the world.
